A Reviewer, such as a head of school, can read every teacher's classes and reports in the school and check them against the school's rules. Reviewers can't change another teacher's report: sign-off always stays with the teacher. School admins can do everything a Reviewer can.
A Reviewer can still teach their own classes and write their own reports, like any teacher.
See the school's reports
Open School reports from the sidebar. It lists every teacher's classes and where their reports stand. Choose a class to see its reports, then choose a report to read it.
A report shows its text and what's still open before sign-off, such as broken rules, suggestions and details not in the teacher's notes. It also shows the teacher checks the teacher has answered. You can read and download, but not edit, refine, apply fixes or sign off.
Check a class file
If a teacher's comments were written outside Lantern, you can upload them to check.
- On School reports, choose Upload a class file.
- Pick the Teacher, the Report type and the Semester. If the teacher isn't on the list, choose Add a missing teacher and give their name and school email. They aren't sent an email.
- Add the class files: one file per class. Lantern reads Word documents, Google Docs downloaded as Word, PDFs and spreadsheets.
- Lantern suggests a class for each file, or a new class. Change it if it's wrong, then choose Read the files.
- Check how each report matches the class list. Choose This is right, pick another student, Add as a new student or Skip this report.
- Choose Approve and check. The button shows how many reports.
When the checks are done, choose See the class's results, or Download results (CSV). The checked reports are saved for the teacher to open when they sign in.
Send reports back
On a report, choose Send back to teacher. Add a Note for the teacher (optional) of up to 1,000 characters, then Send back. To send every report in a class that isn't signed off, use Send class back to teacher on the class page. Undo send back reverses it.
No email is sent. The teacher sees Sent back to you on their dashboard and Reports page, and your note in the editor. The mark stays until they sign the report off.
Privacy
Every time a Reviewer opens another teacher's report or class, it's recorded in the school's access log.
To make someone a Reviewer, a school admin changes their role. See Add staff and change roles.
